Back to the Duel Characters and Story BTTD

They were hated. They were scorned. All those who had saved the world from the Moonlight Duelists were cast aside. Why? Because they never defeated the main Moonlight Duelist - Eve - who was running the entire operation. A traitor saved the world. Eventually, the moon began to return to its normal space in the Solar System. However, that wasn't the end of everyone's troubles. After Judas had been arrested, there were reports of mysterious black holes appearing around the Earth.
They weren't strong enough to take in buildings, only people. At least, for now.

Duelists across the world understood the phenomenon though. These were no ordinary black holes. They were transporting people to the past, to a time when everything changed as a result of one duel.
The duel of Yugi versus Pegasus. But this time, Yugi lost.

Can you unlock the mystery behind the black holes and change the past to what it should have been, and even - perhaps - regain everyone's trust?

    Part 1: Duelist Kingdom
    - Everyone

The crowds jostle you, attempting to push you out of the way as you try to make your way toward one of the reported black holes to have appeared around the Earth. Many of the citizens are fearful that from your arrival back on the planet from the Moon, you have become tainted with the shadow of evil, and that you brought upon these black holes and are now using them to take over the world. Who can blame them? You, as a duelist, aren't even scared of them!

Finally, you reach the black hole. Its energy seems to pulse, pushing your body's organs against each other, like a clenching hand. You have seen others pass through before you, but there is nothing confirming whether they made it alive or dead, or not at all, apart from the 'wise' words of physicists. Apparently, black holes this size weren't strong enough to kill. Apparently.
And then, all too soon, it is your turn to step in. Immediately, you feel as if your head is going to split apart. As your skin touches the mass, you instantly vanish from the present world.

And then you land smack-bang in the middle of a clearing. Your senses are shot, and you stand, groggy and disoriented. Looking behind you, there is nothing to suggest that you have come from elsewhere, apart from being on this island. You throw up, the force of what has occurred being too much for you. Once you are done, you work your way out of the forest, the beasts of it sounding out their own mating and hunting calls. The birdsong does little to liven your spirits.

Soon, you reach a massive Ocean Liner, docked upon the island. Around the gangplank, many duelists stand with their decks in hand, and gloves with star chips on their wrist. It is simple enough to lure one of these unwitting duelists into the forest and take their star chips, though it was a necessary action you'll feel guilty about.

And at last, you can duel. You have to win at least five star chips in order to be able to enter the castle, up from your current two. It's time to see what fate has in store...

    Part 2: Castle Duel Arena
    - Bandit Keith
    - Marrillian
    - Shocka9911
    - Lelouch

With five star chips in hand, the duelists venture toward the castle to the next part of their journey. On the way, friendly chat is made with those who also passed the first stage, including Yugi and his friends.

Once inside the castle, the supervisors of the event permit you a room for the night, wherein you can reconstruct your deck before the big duels tomorrow. The duelists are reminded that all their cards must be legal for they will be observed by a large audience, and disqualified on the spot if this is not the case. You rest.

The next morning, you hear of some events that took place during the night. Apparently someone tried to infiltrate the island, but was stopped by another visitor, who is also nowhere to be seen in the Duel Arena.
In the Duel Arena, current matters are more pressing. The first two matchups have been made - Marrillian versus Bandit Keith, and Shocka9911 versus Lelouch. The loser is kicked off the island.

    Let the duels begin!

    Part 3: Yugi Versus Pegasus

Pegasus stood to announce the winners of the semifinalists. Before he could do so however, a suited man whispered into his ear. With a nod of his head, the man left and Pegasus cleared his throat for a secondary announcement.
"It has come to my attention that the semifinalists do not actually have a King's Hand card with them. As a result of this, I will have to disqualify them. Since Yugi and Jounouchi are the only ones with the required cards, they will stay. However, a duel between them is pointless. I can see it in their eyes. Instead... Yugi, you will be dueling me for the title of "King of Games"!" He slapped his chest and pointed to the duel arena with alternate hands.

Horror was written over the faces of every watching duelist, including Yugi's friends. Yugi however, did not say a word. He merely turned to Jounouchi and wished him luck with a handshake, in which the Glory of the King's Hand card was hidden. Jounouchi took it, hiding it discreetly in his pocket, secretly thankful to Yugi for what he had done. It was within minutes that Yugi had taken center stage for the final duel versus Pegasus. The Match of the Millennium.

    Part 4: Escape!
    Insector Haga
    Dinosaur Ryuzaki
Yami Bakura (can only duel Marrillian, Shocka9911 or Lelouch)

Shock horror fills the stadium... except nobody is there to see Yugi lose. You knew how the duel was supposed to turn out, except that never happened. Instead, Yugi appeared not to switch his souls to prevent Pegasus' mind-reading, and small explosions in the background near the duel's end distracted Pegasus. He was able to win through his Toon World antics, however, and if Yugi was given another chance, then surely he wouldn't lose again?

You wake up in your cell at the basement of the castle, suddenly weary and parched. It feels like you've been down here for weeks, but you've only been here for an hour at most. The cells are bare, including the lack of a bed. You turn and look at everyone else in the cell - all the duelists who got into the castle are here, including Bandit Keith who remains lying motionless in the corner. The other duelists look at you in horror, and one stands to try and break through the door. No matter how much he rattles the iron frame, the lock stays put. The deafening noise however, does bring the attention of a mysterious figure with white hair, holding a golden, circular item with spikes protruding from it.

"Ah, more rats... Seto can always wait until I've silenced you." The figure speaks, readying his deck and cards on the other side of the metal bars. "This will be a Shadow Game. If I win, you are silenced. If you win, you may walk free. I think that's a fair deal, don't you?"

    Part 5: Confront the Darkness!
    PaniK

As darkness descends, Yami Bakura is soundly defeated by Marrillian. He yells, vanishing into dust, and the cage is unlocked. Everyone escapes, running down the massive stairwell from the castle, escaping the shadows enveloping the place. However, at the bottom the duelists run into Haga and Rex who seem to be continuing their feud, Rex having stolen Haga's Insect Queen.

Whilst Rex's Dragons are soundly defeated, Haga manages to defeat his challenger with a deck Pegasus gave him in the meantime to compensate for the loss of his Queen. The loser gives the victor Rex's binoculars through which Haga sees a dark shape in the forest clearing. It is none other than PaniK, gawking at a swirling portal before his very eyes. Once his opponents appear, he is however quick to bring out his deck and challenge them to a duel.

    Part 6: Memories in Time
    Yusei Fudo

Just as the duel with PaniK is finished, the portal grows larger, enveloping the duelists. The first sight they see is pure white, for the sun is shining down on their location. Then they hear a roar.
"Go on, you can do it Yusei!"
The duelists struggle to adjust their eyes to the brightness, but then you see him. He's zipping around on his D-Wheel, summoning Stardust Dragon against Jack's Red Dragon Archfiend. Within minutes, the duel as you know it is over. But instead of the normal events playing out, Yusei turns his head toward you, leaves the track and begins walking in your direction. Everyone else seems to turn and stare, whilst the camera focuses on you. You can see sweat dripping down your face on the arena's large TV screen.
"Greetings." He says. "You're not from here... come on, let's go have a little chat." He says, gathering all the duelists and taking them to a side room where he asks everyone to sit on chairs whilst he goes into the kitchen next to it and grabs everyone a drink. Once everyone is seated and has a drink, he also sits down and asks what you are all doing here.

Once he has heard the story, his face goes sombre. "That portal..." He says under bated breath. "I know what you're talking about. I saw it in my duel, but swerved to avoid it. As I passed, it felt like I was being sucked in... but then Jack pulled me away from it. On our next pass, it was gone."
He then turns on the TV and clicks to the dueling channel. There is a report about a strange purple portal appearing nearby the duel stadium.
"I can get you there, but we need to duel so I can use the Speed World cards to go fast enough. We'll use the abandoned train tracks." He smiles. "Now, who will duel me?"
